Note“Dad (William Pickering) told me that his Grandfather had 5 brothers and they were all raised in foster homes or adopted. If they kept the Pickering name, that could account for some scattered Pickerings in the East.… He (William Pickering) did say his Father was a drummer boy in the Civil War and was in a prisoner of war camp when the war was over. He was so anxious to get home, that he never waited to be discharged and thus never received any benefits as a veteran.” Verla Pickering Baughman  2/6/82
Note"Isaac Hanson Pickering moved from New Hampshire to Brewer, ME where he married Sarah King Cobb and they had Isaac but she died in 1848 and Isaac Hanson and his son sold their 3 properties and moved to Wisconsin. I have the Pickering family going up a little farther. The next father named William married a Hanson girl named Abigail Hanson her father was Isaac Hanson, another from the Rev. War.”1
